Michael James "Mikey" Way, born September 10, 1980 is the bass guitarist for My Chemical Romance and is the younger brother of the bands frontman Gerard Way.
Mikey and Gerard are related to Joe Rogan, host of the NBC game/stunt show Fear Factor and former cast member of the sitcom News Radio (Joe is their mother's cousin's son). Growing up, Mikey worked for Barnes & Noble. in addition to being an intern at Eyeball Records (the company that put put MCR's debut album, I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love in 2002). The first concert Mikey ever went to was a Smashing Pumpkins concert.
Early on in MCR's career, it was said that Mikey learned to play bass specifically for joining MCR. But during interviews with Way in their DVD release, Life on the Murder Scene, Mikey states that he had been an amateur musician since he was and in bands as a bassist before MCR, one of them being Raygun Jones, a band he frequented with Gerard. He plays a Highway one Precision Bass, a Fender Standard Percision Bass, and a Fender Jaguar Bass.
During an MTV interview with Mikey's brother, Gerard, it was announced that the younger Way is currently working on a comic book of his own. There aren't any other details on the comic book, but Way seemed enthusiastic when announcing his younger brother was claiming a spot in the comic industry.
